Nick Stiansen is a postgraduate student in the MRes Medical Device Design and Entrepreneurship (MDDE) programme at Imperial College London. Born and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York, Stiansen attended the University of Pennsylvania and received his B.S.E. in Bioengineering with a concentration in Medical Devices. He also sub-matriculated into the UPenn Master’s programme and completed a M.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM) before arriving at Imperial.
Nick’s interests lie at the intersection of mechanical design, product development, and medicine. He is working on translating novel research technologies into medical devices on both the business and technical fronts. His specific project is focused on a medical device that uses a cycling sub-atmospheric pressure to alleviate the effects of secondary lymphedema in breast cancer patients.
Nick was a member of the Imperial Men’s Basketball 3rd Team. In his free time, he enjoys running, hiking, and exploring London’s food scene.
